Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Private Care on Cape Cod

What’s included and what to expect when working with a senior private care CNA

If you’ve been noticing that your elderly loved one is struggling with living alone or with living in their home, senior private care is a great option.

As a licensed CNA, I provide in-home senior care and companionship on Cape Cod. I take extreme care and patience when it comes to making sure that they feel comfortable and are treated with kindness. One of my most popular services is CNA Private Basic Care, available for a weekly minimum of 4 hours per day once per week.

What does CNA Private Basic Care include?

Basic care encompasses everything an individual would need on a daily basis at the base level: essentials, wellness support, and companionship.

Essential in-home private care

When working with a private CNA, basic care covers all of your in-home essentials. This includes home care (cleaning, tidying up) as well as daily hygiene habits. As a private CNA, I help my patients shower safely, brush their hair, brush their teeth, file their nails and also paint them if they’d like.

Essential care requires the highest level of patience and care as you build trust with a new patient so they can feel comfortable doing these things again. It’s important to me that each of my patients knows that they are safe and supported so they can regain a sense of autonomy and retain quality of life.

Medical and Wellness Support

Once the basics are covered, medical and wellness support provide the comfort and encouragement they need.

As a private CNA providing elderly care, I cannot administer medications but I can gently provide medication reminders to help ensure that your loved ones are receiving the medicine and supplements that they need to maintain their health. This may look like reminding them why they need to take their medications, as well as providing gentle support so that they feel safe and comfortable taking daily medications. Even though we know how important it is, patients who struggle with dementia need to be reminded and kindly encouraged.

Wellness support can look like reminding them to do their physical therapy exercises. We can go for walks if they’re comfortable doing so. Wellness support also includes mental stimulation, like playing card games or flipping through old photo albums with them.

Companionship

Elderly companionship is one of the most important components to keeping their minds active and improving their quality of life. This includes simple actions like sitting and having a conversation, having lunch together, and in general keeping them company.

Everything that’s done as a part of their Essential and Wellness Support is so very important, but companionship is often what our elderly communities crave the most.
